Towards the end of the 80s, Warner Music was the first label to give a recording contract to Patricia Conroy. And to make success complete, Vince Gill was singing backing vocals on two of her songs. After three albums for Warner, Patricia started concentrating on songwriting, again with lots of success. Canadian artists such as Michelle Wright or Lisa Brokop recorded her songs. As if this was not enough, Patricia also earned several awards by the Canadian Country Music Association.

Now, after almost ten years, there's a new studio album from Patricia called Talking To Myself. All eleven songs were written by her, partially in cooperation with such well known Nashville writers as Tom Shapiro. 306 Records, a label cooperation by Universal, brought the album to the market.

The songs are no "me-too" covers of some everyday topic. All of them have lyrics that go deep and make you listen. Talking To Myself, for example, is the cry of a woman who finally wants somebody to listen when she talks about her problems. Everyday Ordinary Life proofs that life can go on just normal despite a broken relationship - at least if you look at it from outside.

There are no rocking or loud sounds on this CD. Conroy wants the listener to sit down and enjoy - and maybe reflect and think for a while. My favorit is Safe Your Breath, where she tells her soon-used-to-be lover that he should speak out free what he wants to do. She will neither break nor cry when he leaves her.

Hopefully we don't have to wait another ten years until the next album from this gifted singer/songwriter. www.patriciaconroy.net.
