It's
always refreshing to receive productions from independent labels. They are
still reflecting the roots of country music, without big orchestras or marketing
ideas. Just plain old traditional and that's how it should be. Lynn Davis'
third CD, Wild Turkey & 7 Up, is no exception to this. Lynn is
no stranger to European listeners too, he had his first two albums in the
Top 5 of the charts over there.
The title track and opener Wild Turkey & 7 Up perfectly explains what you need to be happy after being left by your girl. A little western swing? Listen to Here's Looking At You, to Are You Gone For Good, both remembering me of some of the older George Strait material. Another great Swing number is Down Down Down. Uptempo piano can be heard in Hurt Like Haggard And Cry Like Jones. My favorite is Take My Advice Cause I Never Used It.
In the closing Peace In The Valley, Lynn gives another demonstration of his vocal capabilities. With his solid and flavored voice he is one of the true carriers of traditional country music.
Usually, these artists do not maintain their own websites. But it would be great if they would take advantage of today's capabilities to spread their music, such as myspace or other electronic media. After all, we would like more music fans to know about artists like Lynn Davis.
