It
took far too long until my long time friend Pam Gadd produced another album
after 1997 and 2001. Fans have been waiting for seven years until finally
fourteen great songs were being put on a new record called Benefit Of
Doubt. Humble and thankful as she's always been, Pam puts her talent
way under it's real value. This is one great musician and singer that makes
each and every song worth owning the CD it is burned on.
Since
the late 80's and early 90's, where Pam performed with bands such as Wild
Rose (when we actually met the first time), she has constantly evolved. Being
the backup vocalist for Patty Loveless, she has opened for stars like Vince
Gill or Alan Jackson and has played with countless other artists of the traditional
Country and Bluegrass world.
Beside
nine of the fourteen songs written or co-written by Pam, you will also find
a few classics such as After The Fire's Gone (a hit for Loretta Lynn)
which Pam performs with Shenandoah's Marty Raybon. Then there's Dolly Parton's
Applejack on which Dolly joins Pam singing.
My
favorites are the Wild Rose track Hit The Highway and Pam's homage
to the late and great Porter Wagoner, called Farewell Wagon Master.
This
is a record that proves that you do not have to be following that pop- and
crossover-road which many newcomers believe they have to in order to be recognized
as country artists. Let's not wait another seven years, Pam.
