Since several years Shawn Jennings is touring the Texas Clubs and Honky Tonks with his Southern Roots Band. It’s mainly traditional country music, occasionally mixed with some southern rock. His first CD was published in 2003. On his recent album, My Desire, Jennings penned eleven of the thirteen tracks.

Contrary to many Texas musicians, who got hooked on music in their childhood, Jennings started playing guitar only in his twenties. Prior to that, he was ample busy riding bulls, going fishing and hunting.

He writes stories of everyday country life such as in Poor Folks. Big town business people will probably never understand what you can get out of riding dirt roads in a pickup truck and having fun at a tailgate party. Jennings delivers dance hall feeling on several occasions, one being Buffett Holiday, a track resembling the lifestyle of one of his idols, Jimmy Buffet.

According to Jennings, most of his songs base on personal experience. Listening to Barely Getting By or Camo Church you get a feeling what he means by that. The humorously Drinkin’ Till She’s Purty reminds most of us that some women get more attractive with every drink we take.

A record for every fan of traditional country music and in any case for lovers of Texas Music.
