No, he is not related to the Nashville Star Joe Nichols. There's a sticker on the cover of the CD which reads Caution! Real Country Music. And since the beginning of the 80s, Joe Paul Nichols is collecting one local award after the other. The 65 year old Texan has more than twenty albums on the market. Too Much Texas In Me is the most recent one.

The only issue with this CD: There are no songs written by Joe Paul. But there are great well known and less known covers and the way they are interpreted proofs that Joe Paul Nichols is doing a great job. His voice in certain songs gives you the heebie-jeebies, such as Waltz Of The Angels or Little Boy's Prayer, where Nichols reminds me of Red Sovine.

Modesty is an attribute of many Texans. With the choice of songs such as One Less Than You Think or She Found Something In Me, Nichols proofs that he has that modesty, too. Also, there are swinging titles like Eleven Eighteen Nadine Lane or Silver Dew On The Bluegrass Tonight.
