When I first listened to track one of Kevin Barr’s new production, Lost And Found, it reminded me of the Cowboy Poet Michael Martin Murphey. Like this legend, the Canadian has managed to penn twelve beautiful ballads on his first solo album, fascinating the listener from the first to the last tune.

Kevin Barr is mostly known to Swiss Fans by his appearances with the Undertakin’ Daddies. He earned nominations for Juno Awards as a solo artist and with this – meanwhile split up – band.

The singer/songwriter hails from the Yukon in Canada’s far northwestern corner, average yearly temperature 24 degrees fahrenheit. Nevertheless, all of his songs feel like a cozy open fire, making you forget the cold outside when listening to them.

The stories Barr is telling through his songs are mostly based on personal experienced situations and worth carefully listening to. One of my favorites is Hey Uncle Tom. Two other exceptional tracks are Daisy A Day and Stop This Foolin Round. Listening to the uptempo title Patches On My Jeans wakes reminiscence of the legendary Tommy Collins.

A great album and a must for all lovers of ballads and storytellers. For all other music fans: Listen in and buy.
