It's almost forty years ago since Dugg Collins recorded his first songs with Little Darlin' Records. At that time, the label also had a recording contract with Johnny Paycheck. Almost naturally, Paycheck became Collins' record producer in 1970. Beside his career as a recording artist, Collins won in his other role as a DJ almost every award that the music industry had to offer. Beside albums such as Sounds Like Texas, Collins started to record a CD-series titled Looking Back... And one of those is the current Looking Back...1969.

It's not surprising that due to Collins' relation with Paycheck, most of the songs which Dugg has put on that CD were written by the master himself, certainly not bad news for insiders. Between the opener There's No Easy Way To Die and the final track The Pint Of No Return you can find several more exceptional songs from this era.

Of course these tracks sound like the classical 60's and 70s Country Music hits. What Dugg Collins wants the listener to understand is, that there were times when good music could make it to the charts without the singer having reached 1st place in several Mr. or Mrs. XYZ elections.
