Everyone
listening to Bluegrass Music remembers the history making sound of The Country
Gentlemen. A founding member of this group is Bill Emerson, a legendary instrumentalist
who has not only earned countless honors and awards but is also a member of
many different halls of fame. Dozens of today’s and earlier bluegrass artists
credit Emerson for having helped them to get their career started or re-shaped.
For more than half a century, the music of Bill Emerson and his personality
have shaped Bluegrass Music and helped this genre to be recognized and loved
by all so many people.
Bill Emerson And Sweet Dixie have recently published Southern, a CD with twelve tracks, penned by various acclaimed songwriters, such as Marty Stuart, Chris Hillman or Vince Gill, just to name a few. Perfection in every aspect from songwriting to instrumental skills and vocal harmonies is what makes this CD standing out from the many new releases that flood the market.
My favorites are Love Reunited written by Chris Hillman and Steve Hill, Grandpa Emory’s Banjo by Pete Goble and the instrumental Grandma’s Tattoos by Janet Davis.
Bluegrass at it’s finest. Listen in and add it to your collection.
