Meanwhile it seems likely that the transition from Punk Rocker to Traditional Country Artist is final. Texan Mike Runnels delivers proof by providing his third traditional album Jukebox Boulevard (after it’s predecessors One More Time and Don’t Tell Candy).

Ten songs in the tradition of the 60’s and 70’s sound of the tearjerker and Honkytonk dancehall era show that this type of sound still hasn’t suffered any loss of importance to be in the history books of country music.

Pretty Please could be easily interpreted by The Derailers and Lonely Street would equally fit a record of The Everly Brothers. But Runnels is not keen to write songs with the goal of rekognizing them in other artist’s styles. It’s just the type of music that moves him today after returning to the traditional country music road.

The uptempo title Your Turn To Cry invites the listener to dance along, while Come Home Darlin' rather makes you lighting up some candles and dream along. Two first quality tearjerkers are Once Again and Just Kiss Me Again.
